Castle Howard is unbeatable for festivities and that christmas experience. This is ‘a whole day out’. They run a ‘twelve days of christmas’ programme with varied festive experiences, and afternoon teas. The website is fabulous, do explore.
St Nicholas Christmas Fair York for pressie shopping!
The whole town is mega-Christmassy! Enjoy the atmosphere. Such a wonderful place. We never tire of York ourselves. This christmas fair is the city’s seasonal shopping highlight.
York – by train. Leave car at Northallerton. Trains every 30 minutes.
Ice skating in York. Christmas fun!
Middle Distance – (45 mins drive – about 24 miles) from us.
A flavour of the region – made and usually eaten before it leaves the county!

They also have Christmas shopping evenings on 6 and 18th December with 20% off – to include complimentary mince pies and mulled wine and festive entertainment. This still can’t distract you from that lovely cheese.

Betty’s in Northallerton or Harrogate will NOT disappoint, except, you may have to queue at this time of year, but it will be worth the wait. Their indulgent cakes and Christmas cakes and biscuits, teas, and so much more, make great presents and another idea to tick off the family present list when you stay in a christmas cottage in Yorkshire.
